Revitalizing the Fairplex Fairgrounds to become a sustainable year-round location for local communities to enjoy.
Current Fairplex Fairground
The Fairplex Fairgrounds have been well known for its variety of events that are hosted on their location for over 100 years. An example would be the Los Angeles County Fair.

​Although, many events that are hosted throughout the years has not been able to upkeep in generating revenue for the fairgrounds. In addition, majority of the site is covered completely in asphalt which contributes to climate concerns like the heat island effect. The heat island effect causes areas to have significantly higher temperatures than normal, which contributes to climate change. Our initiative is to address these concerns by proposing a sustainable redevelopment of the Fairplex Fairgrounds.
Proposed Re-devlopment
In this redevelopment initiative, our goal is to implement a mixed-use development that will help enhance the surrounding communities social, economic, and environmental impacts. ​
A mixed-use development contains multiple types of land uses within the same devleopment. For example, the project will contain land uses for commercial, recreational, and residential infrastructure.

Our mixed-use redevelopment initiative was obtained from a conceptual development in partner with Fairplex and Urban Land Institute (ULI) to transform Fairplex into an economic engine and year-round destination for local communities. The numbers 1-4 on the image to the left represent the 4 planning areas of our site location
Commercial Devlopment
The commercial redevelopment plays an important role in the development by stimulating economic growth, generating revenue, and creating job opportunities within the surrounding communities.
Recreational Devlopment
The recreational development will transform Fairplex's underutilized area into a vibrant green space where surrounding communities can enjoy a variety of recreational activities from soccer fields, playground, basketball courts, picnic area, as well as nature trails.

By creating a new green space, the community can gain access to activities that can promote the physical health and mental well-being of an individual.
Residential Devlopment
The recreational development may consist of two, three story apartment complexes designed to offer a modern and functional living space within a vibrant community setting of the mixed development.
